Asa Carter We should be proud of our band majors. If you do not know they are a very important piece to the big band puzzle. Aubree Wiggins and Alex Beebe Are our band majors for the our band. Aubree has been playing music for almost Eight years .Alex has been playing the trombone and tuba for eight years as well. Aubree plays the flute; she has been playing the flute since the 5th grade and also plays the piccolo since last year. When she played for her solo ensemble she got a distinguished for her performance. Alex says “Being a drum major is a fun combination of waving my arms around like a moron and balancing on dangerously-high podiums. While it requires a large amount of responsibility, the greatest challenge is not imagining myself playing whack a mole while conducting. Aubree and Alex love to be the band majors for the band. Aubree and Alex are leaders for the band and stand in front of the audience and conduct music that they love. Alex says “there are many leaders in the band room, but a drum-major takes on responsibility completely different than playing an instrument out on the field. Conducting, running drills, getting music together and showing a great example for the band are just some of the aspects of being a Drum major.” Aubree will be attending the University of Louisville and studying Music Therapy to use music to help special needs. Music is a great part of everyone's life and influences us in many ways. Music has influenced Aubree to pursue something most people wouldn't do. Alex will be going to JB Speed Engineering School at UofL, “But I plan on playing in the marching band there and eventually being a drum major.” That's why we should congratulate Aubree and Alex for their leadership and performance over the years.
