Deshawna Burres Back in November when the crisis in Syria began there were quite a lot of controversy about should the America accept the refugees or not. So far no further arguments have been made other than it is a security risk. There have been no actual updates on this topic since November other than Kentucky Refugee organizations are accepting donations and or giving out community service hours for tutoring. So far the United States are taking in these refugees and the debate of closed borders are over. The last standing state that refuse to take in Syrian refugees was Indiana. Indiana since late December of 2015 have now decided to open its borders for the refugees. Twenty-one Syrian refugees will arrive here in the next two weeks, a figure expected to increase as the U.S. begins to take in an expanded number of refugees fleeing from Syria. The number of settling families in Kentucky now growing this past January of 2016. The refugees, from four families who fled to Jordan and Egypt, are part of a larger U.S. resettlement effort expected to bring as many as 10,000 Syrians to cities across the USA over the next few years, according to the U.S. State Department
